The player spent two years in Ukraine
Former striker of Kyiv Dynamo and Rennes Ismael Bangura shared his memories of playing for the capital club. The Guinean also stressed that the war in Ukraine brought sadness and pain to him.
“For two years [в Киеве] I learned a lot there. As for the climate, in France some matches were postponed due to snow, we played there. It was difficult, it was very cold, but I adapted.”
“The French-speaking players helped me a lot. I still keep in touch with Ayila Yussouf, Pape Diakate, Badr El-Kadduri. I also sometimes called Andriy Yarmolenko on the phone.”
“I spent two great years being the club’s top scorer, we were then champions of Ukraine. It was great, I discovered the Champions League.”
“[То, что происходит в Киеве] this is terrible. It hurts so much to see what’s going on. I see footage on TV, my heart hurts.”
As part of Dynamo Bangura, he played 68 matches in all competitions between 2007 and 2009. During this time, the Guinean scored 37 goals and gave 8 assists.
The 37-year-old striker’s last club was Al-Taraji from Saudi Arabia. Bangura also scored 12 goals in 52 matches for Guinea.
Early on the morning of February 24, Russia launched rocket and air strikes on most Ukrainian cities and then launched a full-scale military invasion. The war against Russia has been going on for 223 days.
