“We don’t have such dialogues.” The head of the FTAR – on the admission of Russians to competitions in the event of a conviction of the SVO

The head of the Russian Weightlifting Federation (FTAR) Maxim Agapitov on the air of the program “There is a theme!” on the channel “” said that the organization does not consider the proposal of the head of the International Olympic Committee Thomas Bach on the condition of admission of athletes of the Russian Federation to international competitions.

Earlier, Bach suggested giving Russian athletes the opportunity to participate in international competitions, but on one condition: they must, according to him, condemn the conduct of a special operation in Ukraine.

The Olympic Movement was designed as a tool for reconciliation, so that it happens through sport. Thomas Bach announces the admission of athletes to competitions who distance themselves and denounce the events in Ukraine. This is totally contrary to the Olympic Charter, right down to the very wording. And to ask such a question of such a nature to an athlete, to determine his political opinions, in this context to discredit him and allow him, that …

We do not foresee anything, any participation of our athletes in such dialogues is not planned and cannot be, – said Agapitov.
