Athletistic/ Others. Swedish biathlete Sebastian Samuelsson is convinced that allowing Russian athletes to compete in the last two Winter Olympics in a neutral status was not sufficient punishment for violating anti-doping rules.
“I don’t think this decision was thought through enough. When they were at the Olympics, it didn’t matter that they had ‘Russian Olympic Committee’ written on their suits. Everyone already understood that they were from Russia. is too simple a punishment for very serious things. The fact that the Ukrainians had to deal with Russians and Belarusians, standing side by side on the firing range, looked very strange,” Samuelsson said.
Earlier, Samuelsson criticized International Olympic Committee (IOC) President Thomas Bach’s statement that the committee will consider the admission to competition of Russian athletes who distance themselves from the special operation in Ukraine.
