FINA renamed the World Water Polo League the World Cup and changed the format of the competition

The International Swimming Federation (FINA) has announced that it will host the Waterpolo World Cup instead of the World League.

The tournament format will also change. It will be divided into two divisions: the first will bring together the 12 best men’s teams, the second division will bring together all the other teams. Six teams from the first division and two from the second will qualify for the Superfinal.

The women’s first division will have eight teams.

Tournament dates in 2023 have also been announced. The men’s qualifying tournament matches will take place from April 18-22 and May 2-6, with the Super Final taking place from June 30-July 2.

The qualifying tournaments for women will take place from April 14-16 and April 28-30, and the Superfinal will take place from June 23-25.
