Ukrainian woman could not cling to medals at the 2022 World Cup
Judo team coach of Ukraine Vitaly Dubrova commented on the performance of Darya Beloded at the 2022 World Championships in Tashkent.
The Ukrainian was unable to cling to the medals, losing in the quarterfinals to the Brazilian Rafaela Silva. According to Dubrova, his ward showed a good level, but has not yet been able to acclimatize in a new weight category.
“Firstly, Beloded lacked skill if she lost. But before that, she had a tough fight against the silver medalist of the Olympics, the Frenchwoman Sarah-Leoni Sizik. Daria won in extra time, she spent a lot of energy. I was unable to restore them, because there was not too long a break between contractions. Plus, Rafaela Silva built the course of the confrontation very well, and according to Dasha’s remarks, unfortunately, she lost.
“Also, it seems to me that she still lacks the experience of performing in this weight category. But the new rivals – she doesn’t know everyone, she didn’t fight with everyone. You need to change tactics and style a little. After all, the weight categories up to 48 kg and 57 kg differ from each other. But in general, Dasha showed a good fight. In fact, she was close to a medal if she beat Silva.”
“And in the meeting with the representative of Mongolia, she won, missed an optional throw and could not recoup. Impressions are quite positive, she is gaining. I think she’s on the right track. Need time”.
“In my opinion, she needs a year to adapt to a new weight class. But if we compare her struggle at the European Championships held in May and now, then the level has increased significantly.
Ukrainian Beloded is a two-time world champion in the weight category up to 48 kilograms, and recently moved up to a heavier weight (up to 57 kg). Dubrova called the transition the right decision and indicated that the current World Championship for Daria would be of an intermediate nature.
The 2022 World Championship in Tashkent takes place from 6 to 13 October.
