Athletistic/ Others. Polish Sports Minister Kamil Bortnichuk has demanded the exclusion of the International Boxing Association (IBA) from the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for admitting Russian and Belarusian athletes to international competitions.

“I was very shocked to learn of the decision of the International Boxing Association to lift the sanctions against Russian and Belarusian boxers. The IBA’s decision means that boxers from Russia and Belarus will be able to compete under the flags of their countries, and if they win a gold medal, they will hear their national anthem. This sets an extremely dangerous precedent for the whole world of sport,” said Bortnichuk.

On October 5, the International Boxing Association lifted the ban on the participation of Russian and Belarusian boxers in competitions under the organization’s auspices. The IBA President is Russian Umar Kremlev, who was re-elected to the post on May 13, 2022.
