Figure skater Daniil Samsonov in a conversation with reporters, he shared his plans for the future and said he was not yet sure if he would later become a coach.
At the Panin-Kolomenkin Memorial in St. Petersburg, Samsonov scored 224.13 points in the sum of two programs. After the first day of competition, the skater was in ninth position.
– How do you feel after such a powerful performance?
– This is not the limit yet. It is difficult to breathe at the end of the program. The track could be stronger. But compared to the first full rental, which I made after the break, 30% have already returned. And so today he was more confident after yesterday when the stunt didn’t work. In general, I feel better jumping. We work slowly, we don’t force events.
– You went to training camp as a coach. Was it a one-time event?
– I have a coach in Kazakhstan. He recommended me and I received an invitation. It is a great honor for me, I will be delighted to participate again. Also, I am now finishing grade 11 and going to study as a coach. The experience will certainly help me.
– So in the future you see yourself in coaching?
– I don’t know for sure yet. The main thing is that the work is connected with the ice. I’ve been on it since I was three, it’s my life. But I hope that my sports career will be long, and that after that it will be a distant future.
How did the technical staff support you during your long absence? [из‑за травмы]?
– I am very grateful that all the coaches continue to believe in me and see the potential. We came here with George, and every day he finds the right words to motivate me. And about yesterday’s story: I was happy to share my problems.
– Did you communicate with other coaches in the group after yesterday’s performance?
– No, they tricked me before leaving, they said important words. I already understand everything, because I am already an adult. And I feel the support of all the coaches even from a distance.
