Ukraine failed to score enough ranking points due to missing World Cup stages
Three athletes will represent Ukraine on the world championship 2022 cycling trackwhich will be held in the French Saint-Quentin-en-Yvelines.
Olympic medalist in Tokyo Elena Starikova will compete in keirin and sprint. Also in the sprint competition will take part Alla Biletskaya. The only Ukrainian in men’s competitions Kirill Tsarenko compete in the points race.
Ukraine was able to get only four licenses for the competition. Due to missing the World Cup stages, Ukrainian athletes did not manage to score a sufficient number of rating points. The fourth license – the women’s points race – Ukraine did not use in competitions.
In case of a successful performance at the World Championships, athletes qualify for the 2022 Champions League cycling track competitions. Recall that last year Elena Starikova won the race in keirin at the last stage of the Champions League. This season, the Ukrainian was not able to get into the number of seeded, who have already received tickets to the competition.
The 2022 Track Cycling World Championships will take place from 12 to 16 October.
