Swedish skier Sundling is ready to support the boycott of the 2023 World Cup if the Russians are admitted

2022 Beijing Olympic champion and 2021 Swedish ski world champion Joanna Sundling told the publication Svt.se that she is ready to support the boycott of her teammates Maya Dahlqvist and Lynn Swan and miss the 2023 World Cup in Slovenia if Russian athletes are allowed to compete.

“A boycott is entirely possible, but I don’t want to go that far right now. I think Russians should not be allowed to compete,” she said.

Previously, skier Jens Burman had not ruled out that if Russian and Belarusian skiers were allowed to compete, several countries would boycott the World Cup at once.

– If allowed, many countries will boycott the tournament. In any case, I hope so, he added.

At the end of February, the executive committee of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that federations ban Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in competitions because of the situation in Ukraine.

Earlier, Russian Ski Racing Federation President Elena Vyalbe told that the decision on admitting Russians to international competitions will be taken by the FIS in October.
