Sergey Dobroskokov, the coach of the sports pair Natalya Khabibullina / Ilya Knyazhuk, said he plans to include the quadruple salch in the program for figure skaters.
– From a technical point of view, do you plan anything special for your services?
– With Natasha, we learned the quadruple throw when she skated with Vanya Balchenko in juniors. They learned that element on the ice, and they did it pretty well. It is clear that Khabibullina was small, her spine was not formed, but she was not afraid. It is also very stable.
How long does it take to study such an element?
“It’s a long process. First you need to lay the throw on the floor, then repeat on the ice, insert it into the program. It’s one thing to master such an element in training, it’s another to do it in music. It will take at least a year, I think. In the juniors, it took us about six months to master the version, but we never inserted it into the program – it was useless.
Now I give the guys a purely hopping task. At the Panin-Kolomenkin memorial, Natasha and Ilya did a triple lutz stunt – two double axels, and very well, they got 14 points. In general, their jump content is quite strong. There is a waterfall, there is a triple rittberger. The partner has a good salchow, so in the future it will be possible to try a quadruple salchow. I think I was lucky: Natasha went through puberty and didn’t lose her triple jumps at all,” Dobroskokov told RT.
At the Panin-Kolomenkin Memorial, Khabibullina and Knyazhuk took third place with a total of 194.96 points. Gold was won by Beijing Olympics bronze medalists Anastasia Mishina and Alexander Gallyamov (245.79).
