“I hope that a decision will be made on the admission of our athletes to the Olympic Games, it is no longer possible to politicize sport as it is currently doing, it creates a crisis in the Olympic movement itself. basic Olympic principles are friendship, respect for rules, culture. We live in a time when we have to realize these opportunities,” Matytsin said.
The Minister also added that given the sanctions against Russian athletes, new models of sports organization are being created in the country. Matytsin expressed hope that sports federations would follow the example of the International Boxing Association (IBA) and allow Russian athletes to participate in international competitions.
