President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation Elena Vyalbe told that she had no information about the Russian skier’s reception Valery Gontar Ukrainian citizenship.
According to the “Championship”, 28-year-old Gontar received Ukrainian citizenship and is now trying to find a job in Austria.
‘I don’t know if he changed nationality. I remember Gontar, I know he won the Universiade. Is it a defeat for the Russian team? No. I had no idea he was still running at all,” Vyalba told .
The last time Gontar took part in Russian competitions was in the 2019/20 season. He was not selected for the Russian squad for the World Cup. Gontar won four medals at the 2017 World Universiade (two gold and two silver).
