Ahead of the blue-yellows – only Japan and the USA
Team of Ukraine U-23 in women’s wrestling completed her performances at the 2022 World Championships in Pontevedra (Spain).
The blue-yellows took third place in the team standings of the 2022 World Cup. Ukrainian athletes scored 107 points in the overall ranking, losing only to the United States and Japan.
It should be noted that the Ukrainians were able to climb to third place thanks to their successful performance on the final day of the competition. So, Alina Grushina-Akobia (up to 57 kg) and Ekaterina Zelenykh (up to 65 kg) became bronze medalists of the tournament, and Irina Bondar (up to 62 kg) won the silver medal at the World Championships.
Earlier bronze medals were won by Solomiya Vinnik (59 kg), Manola Skobelskaya (68 kg) and Anastasia Alpeeva (76 kg).
Recall that at the adult world championship 2022, the Ukrainian wrestling team won a total of six awards. Three of them were won by women. Alexandra Khomenets won the silver medal in the 55 kg category, Ilona Prokopevnyuk won the bronze medal in the 62 kg category, and Alina Grushina-Akobia also won the bronze medal in the 57 kg category.
