– Of course, we supported Veronica. We had planned 3 quads, during the last training sessions, she did them perfectly. In the second program I tried, of course, we were counting on three, but it turned out to be two. Still, she’s awesome! What she did in the short and free programs was the axel, because in training it always worked well, but there was still a psychological moment to do it in competition – well done. I think out of 10 points, Nika made 9. It’s the first start, and we’re going to worry, encourage her and work with her to make sure everything goes smoothly in the next starts. In general, the girl plans to go with Evgeny Viktorovich with 5 quads – she is very strong. His mother is a very competent coach and helps in the coaching process. I am very happy that such a tandem got off to such a good start. I am also very happy that this is the second win for our headquarters, we have been heading towards this for a long time. We have Veronika for the 3rd year, Titova Sofya is the 5th – we are happy that the girls began to perform stably. It’s too early to think about the future, but the first start turned out – the first pancake was not lumpy. I’m glad Nika and Sophia are sparring partners in the group and one sips the other. They are two strong girls who set the bar very high in Russian junior figure skating.

– Is it possible to say that Veronika Zhilina is the new Shcherbakova?

– In comparison, Veronica, in terms of physique and ambitions – Sasha Trusova. Nika’s dream 5-6 quads. And as far as I know, the next focus will be on that. Nicky has all the physical data to succeed. Since a lot of time is spent on physical training. Today I am sure that Sofia Titova, like Nika, is the future of world figure skating.
