Today, Sochi hosts the second day of competition of the 2nd stage of the Russian Cup called “Velvet Season”. In the last rental of the day, the men alone will perform with a short program. The winner of the same stage was Dmitry Aliev, who constantly worked on both programs. It should be noted that Aliyev stepped on the podium in major competitions for the first time since 2020, when he became European champion.
What does the Sochi stage prepare for us? Undoubtedly, as mentioned above, the favorite of the programs will be the Beijing Olympic champion in team competitions – Mark Kondratyuk. Who can compete with him? First up is 20-year-old Petersburger Pyotr Gumennik, who won medals in all three categories at the Russian Cup stages in the 2020/21 season. Experienced Alexei Erokhov will also qualify for the award. And, of course, it will be interesting to watch the performances of promising Artyom Kovalev and Yegor Karnaukhov. The Moscow stage showed that young people can really surprise.
