“It seems to me that this is a certain signal for the Russian athletes and the management. It is a signal, both for our public and for the Western public, so that they understand what is the next step that can be breached in the sanctions policy. These are alarming signs. Unfortunately, the situation could get worse,” Zhurova noted.
On May 16, it was learned that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) had excluded Russia and Belarus from bidding for the purchase of television broadcasting rights for the 2026 and 2028 Olympics.
