Coach, judge of regional competitions, producer Olga Chepurova, in an interview with a correspondent, spoke about the reasons for the unsuccessful performance of the figure skater Alexandra Trousova at the Sochi Grand Prix.
Trusova took third place at the Russian Grand Prix in Sochi on Sunday, losing to Adeliya Petrossian and Sofia Samodelkina . Trusova, 18, who won the silver medal at the Beijing Olympics, where for the first time in history she performed five pure quads in a free program, in Sochi fell from a quadruple lutz in the “free skate” and did double rittbergers and salchows instead of triples.
– Sasha’s short program rather impressed not with technique, but with successful transformation. Many precise movements were found, which the skater was able to interpret in a very organic way. Despite the double sheepskin coat, Trusova looked confident. It should be noted that she obtained the track only at the 3rd level. Therefore, the technical team found the lack of steps and complex turns. The rules have changed this season, and even top athletes can make execution mistakes.
The third level also marks the second rotation – a camel jump.
In the free program, the wow effect did not occur. It can be seen that the athlete has not yet performed the program sufficiently, there is a feeling of incompleteness of many movements. This is especially true for the hands and body. Against the background of Sasha’s lack of the usual ultra-so, it makes sense that she lost out to her rivals. Why I pay attention to the program: an athlete is not a machine, the execution of complex elements requires maximum concentration. When there is no automatism of the composition, the athlete’s attention is scattered, the working memory is occupied with the “remembering” of the program. If the form is far from ideal, the anthropometry changes, the injuries torment, it is extremely difficult to bring together the technical and performance elements. For Sasha, neither the choreography nor the jumps work automatically, however, for fairly objective reasons.
As for the technique itself, as far as I know, we are not talking about somehow changing Trusova. The task of the coaching staff is to rethink the image of the figure skater. The new team continues to work on revealing femininity and plasticity. You can count on improving the technical rating only if you manage to heal injuries as much as possible and the updated body is “under control”, Chepurova said.
In early October, it became known that Trusova left coach Eteri Tutberidze for the second time in her career and joined Svetlana Sokolovskaya’s squad.
