Gutzeit will leave the post of Minister of Youth and Sports if he wins the election of the head of the NOC

The official does not plan to combine positions

Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit announced that he would leave his post if he won the election of the President of the National Olympic Committee.

“For me, the Olympic Movement is very important in my life. Therefore, I decided for myself to go to the presidency of the National Olympic Committee. For the last eight months of our fight against Russian aggression, I have been paying even more attention to the international community and communication with international partners who help us. I already see how we should move forward in the development of the Olympic movement, how we should help our Olympians.”

“Therefore, this is very interesting for me, this is a new challenge. I see how I can prove myself in helping our Olympians, in training and performances at the Games and in international work. So I made this decision for myself. No one offered me, I independently decided for myself to go to the presidency of the NOC.

“I do not plan to combine the position of minister with the position of head of the NOC. If I am elected president of the NOC, then I will concentrate entirely on the Olympic movement.”

Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling and member of the Verkhovna Rada Zhan Beleniuk, Olympic champion in biathlon Olena Bilosiuk (Pidgrushna) and honored coach of Ukraine in freestyle wrestling Igor Malinsky are also running for the presidency of the NOC of Ukraine. The election of the President of the NOC of Ukraine will be held on November 17 during the XXXVII reporting and election General Assembly of the NOC of Ukraine.

Sergei Bubka will leave the post of NOC President in the near future – he will not stand as a candidate for a new presidential term at the reporting and election assembly of the NOC on November 17. It is known that Bubka is going to support Vadim Gutsait in the elections.
