Yanko is a quadruple world champion in the USSR national team and a five-time USSR champion.

As a coach, Yanko won the world championships six times with the national teams of the USSR and Russia. Janko is the only coach in history to have won the world championship six times.

In recent years, Yanko has served as the chairman of the coaching council and a member of the executive committee of the Bandy Federation of Russia.
