Bubka: It was a great honor for me to head the NOC of Ukraine

The election of the new president of the NOC of Ukraine will be held on November 17

President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Sergey Bubka commented on his decision not to seek re-election.

“I have decided not to participate in the elections for the post of President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine. I will focus my efforts on the work of the Solidarity Fund to Support the Olympic Community, which helps Ukrainian athletes prepare for the Olympic Games in Paris 2024 and Milan/Cortina 2026 during the war. I have always worked for the development of Ukrainian sports and will continue to do so in the International Olympic Committee, with international federations and national Olympic committees around the world.”

“I see the NOC of Ukraine as an organization that continues to successfully develop the Olympic movement in Ukraine, as it does now. I want all the efforts that the big NOC team makes for our athletes to give results in the form of gold medals at the Olympic Games, World and European Championships. And I also believe that the young generation of Ukrainian Olympians, brought up on Olympic values ​​- friendship, respect, excellence – will be a model for their peers and the pride of our nation.”

“It was a great honor for me to lead the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine and serve the Olympic ideals for the development of Ukrainian sports. I will continue to do this.”

Four candidates are running for the post of the President of the NOC of Ukraine: an Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling and a deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Jean BeleniukOlympic champion in biathlon Elena Bilosyuk (Pidgrushnaya)Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit and Honored coach of Ukraine in freestyle wrestling Igor Malinsky.

The election of the President of the NOC of Ukraine will be held on November 17 during the General Assembly of the NOC of Ukraine.
