swimming world championships Veronika Andrusenko considers that it makes no sense to leave the jurisdiction of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), by whose decision she was admitted to the Tokyo 2020 Games.
On Wednesday, it became known that Deputy Roman Teryushkov and Senator Eduard Isakov had submitted a bill to the State Duma of the Russian Federation to cancel the recognition of CAS decisions by Russian sports federations. To this end, it is proposed to cancel Article 36.4 of the Federal Law “On physical culture and sports in the Russian Federation”.
– Me and (Alexander) Kudashev were then illegally charged. There was no evidence, just empty accusations. They accused me to destabilize me, everyone understood it then. CAS then made a fair decision, in fact, he could not make another decision – all the samples were clean, – Andrusenko told .
– It turns out that without this CAS decision, you would not have played in the Olympic Games.
– If the question is posed in this way, then yes. Indeed, there is no point in leaving the jurisdiction of the CAS, then everything will be even sadder than at the moment.
Andrusenko was charged with an anti-doping rule violation based on data from the Moscow Anti-Doping Laboratory and suspended from competition. CAS lifted her suspension, she was able to compete in the Tokyo Olympics.
