BMX freestyler Rizaev: “International experience is necessary. You forget, being in Russia, what it is”

Winner of the BMX Freestyle World Cup Irek Rizaev told that he hopes Russian athletes will be allowed to compete more often in international competitions next season.

Rizaev won the Russian BMX freestyle championship, which ended on Saturday in Moscow. Previously, the athlete with neutral status competed in Barcelona.

– The last three seasons have been unusual for us, but what we have is what we have. The competition within the team grows and the level with it. It motivates me to progress. In principle, I always gave my best, and now too,” Rizaev told .

– You went to Barcelona. What was this event?

— C1 competitions. I took ninth place, not everything went to plan, but it was good to compete with the guys. International experience is required. You forget, being in Russia, what it is. You have to go through two or three starts in a row at such a level to remember how it works, otherwise you come and feel “oh-oh-oh”, you completely forgot.

Is there any hope that there will be more admissions next season?

– I really hope so.
