Russian BMX team head coach Pavel Kostyukov said the team has not stopped working and should be fully prepared when it returns to the international stage.
The Union Cycliste Internationale (UCI) allows Russian athletes to participate in their competitions in a neutral status, if they are not registered for the national team, as well as for a professional team operating under the flag of Russia or Belarus. In a neutral status, in particular, this season started the winner of the World Cup stages Irek Rizaev.
– We are preparing for the fact that our athletes will be allowed to compete. Sooner or later it will happen. I would like to approach this moment in full preparation,” Kostyukov told .
— How do you judge the level of the Russian BMX freestyle championship ended?
– Year after year, the guys are progressing, it’s nice to see the youth grow up, I’m happy with the dynamics shown by the athletes, especially those who have made it to the podium at this Russian championship. Well, as for Irek Rizaev and Nikita Fominov, it was good to watch their fights in Spartakiad, but in the championship, Irek had a better run. In general, I am happy that the level is increasing from year to year.
Is the season already over?
– In freestyle, we will have the Russian Cup in Omsk, there will be another event in December, it has not been approved yet. So let’s move on to the off-season.
