Athletistic/ Others. The Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation will assess the possibility of filing an appeal against the decision to disqualify Russian gymnast Ivan Kulyak.
“We have to look at the text of the decision, there are some things that are not quite right for us, and then we will make a decision. I do not rule out that we are fighting, but we may have to put ourselves on agreement,” said Vasily Titov, president of the Russian Artistic Gymnastics Federation.
On May 18, the Gymnastic Ethics Foundation (GEF) disciplinary committee suspended Kulyak for one year. The reason for this was the appearance of an athlete with the letter “Z” attached to sports equipment during the award ceremony for the medalists of the Artistic Gymnastics World Cup stage in Doha, Qatar.
The letter “Z” in the meaning “for victory” is used by the Russian army participating in a special operation in Ukraine.
