Bilosyuk withdrew her candidacy and will support Belenyuk in the NOC presidential election

The election of the new head of the Olympic Committee will be held on November 17

Olympic champion Elena Bilosyuk (Pidgrushnaya) will not take part in the election of the President of the National Olympic Committee. The biathlete withdrew her candidacy and will support the Tokyo 2020 champion in the election Jean Beleniuk.

“Friends, I want to inform you that I have decided to unite with the team of Jean Beleniuk and refuse to participate in the reporting and election General Assembly of the NOC of Ukraine as a candidate for the President of the NOC of Ukraine. Together we are stronger! With this decision, I want to support Jean’s candidacy for November 17.”

“I devoted my whole life to sports, went a long way and formed a vision of how the Ukrainian Olympic movement in particular and sports in general should develop. Our country is going through one of the most difficult stages in its history and passes all the tests with its head held high.

During the time of independence, a generation of conscious, determined and patriotic people has already been born and grown up, one of which is Jean Beleniuk. Jean and I both have a clear position, a balanced vision of what ideals should come first and what things are outdated today, and in some cases unacceptable! Together to the victory of Ukrainian sports!”

Earlier, Bilosiuk withdrew her candidacy from the presidential elections in the Biathlon Federation of Ukraine. The athlete said that she would not be able to take part in the elections, as she was at a training camp.

Sergei Bubka will leave the post of NOC President in the near future – he will not stand as a candidate for a new presidential term at the reporting and election assembly of the NOC on November 17. In addition to Belenyuk, Minister of Youth and Sports Vadim Gutzeit and Honored Coach of Ukraine in freestyle wrestling Igor Malinsky will take part in the elections.

Beleniuk and Gutzeit are considered the main candidates for the presidency of the NOC. It is known that Bubka is going to support Vadim Gutsait in the elections.
