Stella Zakharova: Sergey Bubka is a very difficult person who loves himself and does not respect athletes

The election of the new president of the NOC of Ukraine will be held on November 17

Olympic champion in gymnastics Stella Zakharova commented on upcoming election of the President of the National Olympic Committee and appreciated the work of the current head of the NOC of Ukraine Sergei Bubka.

“Eight years ago I said that Sergey Nazarovich Bubka is a very difficult person who loves himself and does not respect athletes. Here it is now. He goes already after squeezing everything here. He doesn’t care. He feels comfortable in Monaco, he has his own place there.”

“Now Bubka is going to the International Olympic Committee and wants to hand over the chair to his successor, with whom they probably made money. And before us is now a black abyss. Or we immediately reboot and bring in a team of new people – democratic, active athletes, coaches and functionaries who live it. We have a lot of such people, but they are so nailed. Where they find some weak points and immediately through the prosecutor’s office, they immediately urinate.

“So, if this does not happen now, we will continue to work in the same way as slaves and vagabonds. When state coaches are imposed on federations, they are appointed by a commission for people who are incompetent in a particular sport. How can this even be? Even if state officials interfere in this, they will soon interfere, who should speak.”

Sergei Bubka will leave the post of NOC President in the near future – he will not stand as a candidate for a new presidential term at the reporting and election assembly of the NOC on November 17.

In addition to Belenyuk and Gutzeit, the honored coach of Ukraine in freestyle wrestling Igor Malinsky is running for the presidency of the NOC. Olympic biathlon champion Elena Bilosyuk (Pidgrushnaya) withdrew her candidacy and will support Belenyuk in the elections.

Beleniuk challenged Gutzeit to a public debate. The deputy presented his program for the development of the National Olympic Committee and invited the minister to demonstrate his vision of the future of the NOC.
