Three-time Olympic synchronized swimming champion Alla Shishkina believes that the burden on the younger generation of athletes will increase significantly due to the introduction of an additional program in group competitions.
The International Swimming Federation (FINA) previously announced that synchronized swimming Olympics medals in group competitions will be played based on the results of three routines – acrobatic has been added to free and technical.
“The first thought is that it’s good that I have already finished my career,” Shishkina told .
Will the alignment of forces change all that?
– I think that’s what it’s made for. Russia in the “highlights” (they were replaced by an acrobatic program – approx.) never played. Now we will have to do this “highlight”.
And you need to understand the main thing – it’s a filler. We used to train ten hours a day, now 12 and 15? I feel sorry for the younger generation.
– The load on the acrobats is colossal. Is it a health risk?
– And here. I have always said that synchronized swimmers are universal soldiers, and now the selection for the national team will be even more difficult. Now all eight people should, apparently, be able to perform stunts. One acrobat will certainly not be enough, it takes two, three. The load will increase. It’s hard. I think so: you added a program, removed a reserve – then added a medal.
