The head of the World Athletics Association (World Athletics) Sebastian Coe expressed hope for a quick resolution of the situation with the withdrawal of the All-Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA).

With ARAF deprived of World Athletics membership since 2015 due to a large-scale doping scandal, a task force was created to restore the organization’s status. From then on, Russian athletes could participate in international competitions only after obtaining neutral status. On March 1, 2022, World Athletics banned Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international competitions.
