Vadim Gutzeit was elected the new president of the organization
Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling and deputy of the Verkhovna Rada Jean Beleniuk commented on the results election of a new president of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.
The Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine was elected as the new President of the NOC Vadim Gutzeitwith 123 votes. Beleniuk – 22 votes.
“Friends, we have passed this election campaign with dignity. I am proud of my team, I am proud of my program and the fact that we were completely open with you. I am grateful to our media team, grateful to the presidents who reached out to me and supported us, grateful to my family and colleagues in sports.”
“I believe that we still have a great future in the Ukrainian Olympic movement, and it will begin when the new Ukraine is ready for change. Today the old system has won or the online voting system has won.”
Gutzeit will replace Sergei Bubka, who refused to stand as a candidate for a new presidential term at the NOC assembly. It is known that Bubka openly supported Vadim Gutsait in the elections.
Earlier, Gutzeit said that he would leave his post in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine if he wins the election of the president of the National Olympic Committee.
Andriy Shevchenko, the legendary football player and former head coach of the national football team, has been elected one of the vice-presidents of the NOC of Ukraine. One of the members of the NOC was the Ukrainian boxer and world champion Oleksandr Usyk.
