The Minister of Youth and Sports of Ukraine during the voting scored 123 votes, which exceeded 83% of the turnout in the elections. His main competitor, Olympic champion in Greco-Roman wrestling and Verkhovna Rada deputy Zhan Beleniuk, got 22 votes (14.97%).
2 votes (1.36%) – from another participant in the elections, the honored coach of Ukraine in freestyle wrestling Igor Malinsky. It should be noted that before the start of the elections, Olympic biathlon champion Elena Bilosyuk (Pidhrushnaya) withdrew her candidacy.
Gutzeit will replace Sergei Bubka, who refused to stand as a candidate for a new presidential term at the NOC assembly. It is known that Bubka openly supported Vadim Gutsait in the elections.
The official himself said that he would leave his post in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine if he wins the election of the president of the National Olympic Committee.
In addition to the election of the head of the NOC of Ukraine, there were also elections to the members of the organization. One of the members of the NOC was the Ukrainian boxer and world champion Oleksandr Usyk.
