People’s Deputy did not want to allow uncontested “castling” in the election of the head of the NOC
Tokyo 2020 Olympic champion and MP Jean Beleniuk spoke about the reasons why he decided to take part in the presidential elections National Olympic Committee of Ukraine.
“I train for myself, and I am a People’s Deputy of Ukraine, I defend the rights of citizens. And I could not but respond to the request of those in the situation, relatively speaking, “selective approach.”
“Some are given all the support, financing abroad. And, given that someone has the right to state some position that is not shared by many members of the ministry, they have certain problems. Therefore, in order to avoid simple castling and elections without elections, we decided to go for this story.”
Beleniuk came second in the voting for the NOC President, losing to Youth and Sports Minister Vadim Gutzeit. The deputy suggested that the minister hold a debate before the elections, but Gutzeit did not appear.
