The President of the NOC said that the ministry continues to work as usual
President of the National Olympic Committee of Ukraine Vadim Gutzeit commented on rumors of a merger Ministry of Youth and Sports with other departments of government.
“Unification of the ministry? I heard about these conversations, but this issue was not discussed in the government. There is no information,” said the Minister of Youth and Sports.
“While the ministry is working, we are working normally. We have a lot of work, both for our athletes and for their travel abroad. And in such difficult conditions, it is necessary that the entire sports industry work in all cities and villages. For our citizens to be physically active. Therefore, there is no information about the further life of the ministry yet.”
Vadim Gutzeit was elected as the new president of the NOC, replacing Sergei Bubka. Gutzeit also continues to head the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Earlier, the official said that he would leave his post in the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine in case of victory in the election of the President of the NOC.
After the election of the head, the Committee elected a new composition of members of the NOC of Ukraine. Among them were Grigory Surkis and Nestor Shufrich.
Later, Surkis and Shufrych decided to leave the NOC of Ukraine. Their inclusion was opposed by the former head coach of the Ukrainian national team Andriy Shevchenko and UAF President Andriy Pavelko.
