Swimmer Kameneva about the Russian record: “I swam in 52 seconds and I can say: ‘I’m proud of myself’

World and European short course swimming champion Maria Kameneva said she could be proud of herself after updating the Russian record at a distance of 100 meters freestyle.

Kameneva won on this course at the Russian Championship which takes place in Kazan as part of the second stage of the Friendship Games. Kameneva updated the country’s record – 51.79 seconds. She became the first Russian woman to swim 52 seconds in the 100 meter crawl.

“I’m very proud of myself, I guess. I didn’t expect it, there was no goal to swim in 52 seconds. The goal was to swim Russia’s best and record, but when you change 52 seconds, it’s doubly nice,” Kameneva told reporters.

Was it a dream, a goal, a task?

– Rather the task, because the schedule in recent years was such that it was impossible to swim 100 m freestyle in short water – I made a choice in favor of the resort. Plus fifty dollars. And so I decided to swim – it turned out successfully.
