Swimmer Prigoda: “If my world record is broken at the World Cup, I will not be very upset”

World record holder in short course swimming over a distance of 200 m breaststroke Kirill Prigoda said he would not be upset if his record was not upheld at the world championships in Melbourne.

On Tuesday, Prigoda won on this course at the Russian Championship, which takes place as part of the second stage of the Friendship Games in Kazan.

– Do you think your record will stand at the World Championships?

– I don’t know, but if they beat me, I won’t be very upset, because it hasn’t been a result for ages. Ordinary time, he just kind of has an interesting mark, Prigoda told .

– But it’s good that at some point there is a note with your last name?

– Yes, I was just happy to write my name in history, but modern life is like that – you can’t stop there. We must strive to do more and better.

Russian athletes are not taking part in the December World Short Course Swimming Championships in Melbourne, Australia, as the International Swimming Federation (FINA) has suspended them from participating in starts under its auspices until the end of 2022 .
