Sotskova on the transition from Trusova to Sokolovskaya: “If Sasha is ready for a long job, then they will succeed”

Grand Prix Final Silver Medalist Maria Sotskova in a conversation with , she said figure skating coach Svetlana Sokolovskaya was able to help Alexandra Trousova return form.

In 2019, Sotskova moved from Elena Buyanova to Sokolovskaya. In October of this year, the Sokolovskaya team was replenished by Olympic Games silver medalist Trusova.

In July 2020, Sotskova announced her retirement from professional theater. Sotskova, who competed in singles, is the silver medalist in the 2017 Grand Prix Final. At the Pyeongchang Olympics, Maria took 8th place.

– In the last season of your career, you moved to Svetlana Sokolovskaya. There is an opinion that people are going to her to live the last days at the end of her career. Are you okay with that?

– Absolutely disagree. It’s 100% wrong. Firstly, Svetlana Vladimirovna is a wonderful person with whom you will always find contact, and this is the most important thing for a coach and an athlete. Secondly, she is a good trainer and is not afraid to invite other specialists to work with her athletes. Now Svetlana Vladimirovna has the best skaters in the group. I think the question is not in her, but in the athletes. It is important for what purpose the skater enters the group with Sokolovskaya.

As for me, I ended my career solely on my own initiative. Svetlana Vladimirovna created all the conditions for me to train with high quality.

– Did you think that Sokolovskaya specializes in boys, but has difficulty with girls?

– I can not say that Svetlana Vladimirovna has problems working with girls. There are only a few, but the result is there.

– Will Sokolovskaya be able to “resurrect” Sasha Trusova?

– I’m sure. But here the question is Sasha herself, her desire to get in shape. We know how difficult it is to return the lost form, you have to put a lot of effort. If Sasha is ready for this long labor, then they will succeed.
