Former Russian figure skater Anastasia Tarakanova in an interview with , she said she still had dreams of competing in the Olympics even after breaking her leg.
Tarakanova suffered a leg injury in the 2019/20 season. In 2017-2019, the figure skater became the winner of the junior stages of the Grand Prix. She ended her career in July 2021 due to health issues.
“I skated with a fracture for about three months and the bone didn’t heal well,” says Tarakanova. – An operation was needed, but in Russia no one took it, and there was no financial opportunity to do it abroad.
The pain went nowhere, the blockade did not work. I was told that the operation might not help and that recovery would take two or three years. In general, you can forget about sports. We still continued to go to different doctors for a long time, we turned to a kinesiologist. I kind of wanted to hold on and keep riding. Maybe compete in the Olympics for another country.
Have you considered any specific proposals?
— Yes, there were options, opportunities. We thought about it, but I won’t divulge what exactly was there. This remains a personal matter for each athlete.
