Harlan: Russian and Belarusian athletes will be able to return to big sport only when their “trash” leaves our land

Boycott of fencers from Russia and Belarus in the international arena extended until March 2023

Ukrainian fencer Olga Harlan commented extension of the ban of Russians and Belarusians from tournaments under the auspices of the International Fencing Federation (FIE). The suspension will be in effect until March 2023.

“Russian and Belarusian athletes will be able to return to big sport only when their “trash” leaves our land. They have no right to say that they are not related to the authorities. Russian athletes shake hands with Putin and receive wages from him. While a full-scale war is going on, they have no right to participate in competitions and generally go somewhere.”

In March 2023, an extraordinary FIE congress will be convened, at which a vote will be held on the further status of the participation of athletes from Russia and Belarus in international competitions.

Recall that Olympic champion Beijing-2008 Olga Kharlan became the ambassador of a large-scale communication campaign 1 + 1 media – “Sports Front”.

In October, Harlan won a silver medal at the FIE Flemish Open tournament, which took place in Ghent, Belgium.
