French arbitration Stephanie Frappart was appointed to the group stage match of the 2022 World Cup.

Frappart will officiate the Group Stage 3 match in Quartet E between Germany and Costa Rica. Brazilian representative will act as assistants Neuza Beck and mexican Karen Diaz Medina.

Thus, the French referee will go down in the history of the World Championships as the first woman to officiate a World Cup match as the main referee. Prior to this, Frappart was involved as a reserve referee at games in Qatar.

The match between Germany and Costa Rica will take place on Thursday, December 1st. It is noteworthy that both teams retain the chances of reaching the playoffs of the 2022 World Cup.
