“The VFLA has fulfilled all the conditions of the World Athletics roadmap” – Privalova

The All-Russian Athletics Federation (VFLA) has successfully fulfilled the conditions of the roadmap for the restoration of membership in the World Athletics Association (World Athletics). This was stated by the head of the VFLA Irina Privalova his remarks were quoted by the press service of the federation.

Earlier on Wednesday, World Athletics Association (World Athletics) chief Sebastian Coe said the organization’s task force recommends restoring ARAF status in March 2023.

We awaited this advice with great hope. The Federation has done a lot of work to recover, we have fulfilled all the conditions of the roadmap, we are doing important work in the field of the fight against doping, we have successfully passed a large-scale international audit.

Again, the task force report notes progress in terms of recovery, most importantly that the date for the final decision on our issue is March next year. We will continue to do everything to restore the federation and bring our athletes back to the international stage,” the ARAF press service quoted Privalova as saying.

ARAF has been banned from World Athletics since 2015 due to a huge doping scandal. From then on, Russian athletes could participate in international competitions only after obtaining neutral status.

On March 1, 2022, World Athletics banned Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international competitions.
