“Our task is to be smarter and get back to the big game” – Yolanda Chen on the possible restoration of the VFLA in March 2023

Soviet and Russian athlete Yolanda Chen believes that after the restoration of the VFLA in World Athletics, our athletes can begin to fully prepare for the Olympic Games in Paris, which will be held in 2024.

Earlier, Rune Andersen, head of the World Athletics Task Force, said the final decision on restoring the All-Russian Athletics Federation (ARAF) would be taken in 2023.

– That’s very good news. One of the happiest of recent years. If World Athletics (ARAF) membership is restored, then of course our athletes will have the opportunity and the right, at least in a neutral status, to participate in international competitions. And our athletes will be able to start preparing fully for the Olympic Games in Paris, where they still plan to compete. We have been reassured several times. But for now, it’s really very good news, and then we’ll see.

I want to warn the entire sports community. When such news comes, we should deal with everything as calmly as possible and not provoke harsher actions against us. Our task is to be smarter and get back to big sport,” Chen told .

ARAF has been banned from World Athletics since 2015 due to a huge doping scandal. From then on, Russian athletes could participate in international competitions only after obtaining neutral status.

On March 1, 2022, World Athletics banned Russian and Belarusian athletes from participating in international competitions
