The leader of the men’s team held the first official start of the season
Leader of the Ukrainian men’s biathlon team Dmitry Pidruchny commented on the performance in the relay at the first stage World Cup in Kontiolahti. For Dmitry, the race was the first in the new season.
“The race is tough, because the first. In addition, I missed a lot of training due to injury. Before that, I did a lot of work on acceleration, because I still felt a little injury. I was very worried today because of the shooting.”
“The knee was treated, they did everything they could. Yesterday I didn’t even feel any pain, but today, during the race, at maximum load, my knee started to hurt again. I will talk to the doctor, something needs to be done. But this injury does not allow me to run fully. If during training there was almost no pain in the previous days, then it reappears during exercise.
“Of course, there was a lot of excitement, because I didn’t have starts from the Ukrainian summer championship. But in the summer there are different sensations, a different biathlon, that’s why I was worried, because I didn’t know what to expect from myself. Yes, the excitement was quite serious.
Ukraine, consisting of Artem Pryma, Dmitry Pidruchny, Bogdan Tsymbal and Anton Dudchenko, came to the finish line in 9th place in the relay. The Blue-Yellows used 13 extra rounds.
At the first stage of the World Cup in Kontiolahti, the men will have two more races. On Saturday, December 3, there will be a sprint, and on December 4, a pursuit race.
