Secretary General of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation Alexander Yaremenko told he considered the discussion of Russia’s possible transition to the Asian Volleyball Confederation (AVC) “a waste of time”.
Earlier, Vladimir Salnikov, member of the board of the International Swimming Federation (FINA) and president of the All-Russian Swimming Federation, told the call, if possible, for Russians to participate in water sports in Asian tournaments. .
– We do not consider this question because it will not allow us to be admitted to international competitions. The Asian Volleyball Confederation is part of the International Volleyball Federation, which decided on our suspension – and that applies worldwide. In Asia, they will not be able to admit us in the same way as in Europe. So considering this issue is a waste of time in these conditions,” Yaremenko told .
In February, the International Olympic Committee (IOC) recommended that sports federations prevent Russians from participating in international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine. Many federations have followed these recommendations.
