Van Leeuwen: For the autumn part of the season I would give the team a “seven” on a ten-point scale

The coach is ready to continue working in the Luhansk club

Mentor of Dawn Patrick van Leeuwen summed up the first part of the season. The head coach of the Luhansk club stressed that his players need to fix the problems in defense, as Zorya conceded a lot of “easy” goals.

“We should have scored more points. This was shown by our games and our moments where we played very well, but did not score. We will continue to work on this during preparation. [ко второй части сезона]. We missed a lot from the standards and also this needs to be paid more attention.

“The positive moment is that the team wants and knows how to play football, creates many chances and scores good goals. This is a plus, but we concede goals a lot and easily. We have to fix it in the second round.”

“We played without the “ninth” number and used different players in this position. We have to see if there is a good striker for Zarya.”

“For the autumn part of the season, I would give the team a “seven” on a ten-point scale. We lost too many points with the teams below us in the standings. I don’t like it and we have to work on it.”

Van Leeuwen took charge of Zorya before the start of the 2022/23 season, with a contract running until the summer of 2025. Today it was reported that the coach may leave the club, and the main contender for the place of the Dutch specialist is the ex-coach of Mariupol and Kryvbas Oleksandr Babich.

Zorya with 28 points takes the fourth place in the standings of the championship of Ukraine. Van Leeuwen’s side have been undefeated in four consecutive Premier League games. The team is currently on vacation.

In the next round of the Ukrainian championship after the resumption of the season, Zorya will play against Vorskla. The base match date is March 4th.
