The Ukrainian played six match points, but lost to the Frenchwoman Ponche
Ukrainian tennis player Katharina Zawatskaya lost in the first round match of the tournament WTA 125 in Angers, France.
In the 1/16 finals, Zavatskaya lost to a Frenchwoman Jessica Ponche. Tennis players spent three and a half hours on the court.
The first set was left for Ponche 7:5. In the second game, Zavatskaya won three match points and moved the set to a tie-break, in which she was stronger than the Frenchwoman – 7:2.
In the third set, Zavatskaya led 5:3, but allowed her opponent to recoup. With a score of 5:6 on Ponchet’s serve, the Ukrainian won back three more match points, but lost 3:7 in a tie-break.
In the singles tournament in Angers, two more representatives of Ukraine will perform – the country’s first racket Angelina Kalinina will play in the first round against American Katrina Scott, and Dayana Yastremskaya will start the match with American Sofia Kenin.
