Ten Hag on Ronaldo’s departure: He’s in the past

The Portuguese left Manchester United at the end of November

Manchester United manager Eric ten Hag commented on the departure from the club of the Portuguese striker Cristiano Ronaldo.

“He is gone and that is the past. Now we are looking forward and looking to the future,” the Red Devils coach said briefly.

Manchester United at the end of November announced the termination of cooperation with Ronaldo. The main reason for the departure of the Portuguese was a scandalous interview with the famous British journalist Piers Morgan.

During the conversation, Cristiano commented on the situation at Manchester United and talked about his relationship with the team’s head coach Erik ten Hag. Ronaldo said he “does not respect ten Hag” and “Man Utd betrayed him.”

In the summer of 2021, Ronaldo returned to Manchester United on a two-year deal. He previously played for the Red Devils from 2003-2009.

In total, Cristiano played 346 matches for Manchester United and scored 145 goals. Together with the English club, the Portuguese became the champion of England three times, and also won the Champions League in the 2007/08 season.

Ronaldo is now at the location of the Portuguese national team in Qatar, where the 2022 World Cup is being held. The team of Fernando Santos reached the quarterfinals of the World Cup, where they will play with Morocco.

Manchester United is fifth in the Premier League. Also, the Red Devils reached the 1/16 finals of the Europa League, where they will play with Barcelona.
