Minister of Sports of Russia Oleg Matytsin spoke about the possible transition of the Russian Diving Federation (RDF) to Asia.
Earlier, RFPV chief Stanislav Druzhinin told that calling on the International Swimming Federation (FINA) for participation in Asian tournaments is common from Russian federations.
– If the federation is considering such an option, then there are reasons for it. Any view to Asia, Europe, West, East, North or South. A person must have a rich vision. The most important thing is that there are opportunities. Their correct evaluation and implementation is the responsibility of each federation. If today the diving federation sees more prospects in Asia, then you need to use them, but in no case limit yourself to one direction, Matytsin told reporters.
The Minister also commented on the possibility for Chinese athletes to participate in Russian competitions.
“I think that’s the right approach. You can also organize bilateral meetings, matches, friendly. If the Chinese federation is ready to organize open competition formats, the Russians will also take this direction. China and Russia have been cooperating in sports for several years. I’m sure there will be diving competitions. The only question is the restrictions related to the pandemic. We hope this is temporary and we will actively participate in all programs,” added the head of the Ministry of Sports.
Russian athletes have been suspended from participating in tournaments under the auspices of FINA due to the situation in Ukraine.
