President of the All-Russian Volleyball Federation (VVF) Stanislav Shevchenko said that despite the non-admission of Russian athletes to international tournaments, the national team will hold training camps and operate normally.
The 20th WFV Reports Conference was held in Moscow. The International Volleyball Federation (FIVB) suspended the participation of the Russian national team in international competitions due to the situation in Ukraine and deprived the Russian Federation of the right to organize the 2022 World Cup.
– The main thing is that we listened to the reports of the presidium for two years, heard the reports of the head coaches of the national teams, discussed the celebration of the centenary of volleyball in 2023.

“There weren’t really any controversial moments. The interest was in the report on the Olympic Games with two silver medals from our athletes, and, of course, we listened carefully to the head coaches and their reports.
– Discussed the legacy left to the country after the cancellation of the World Cup?
– Yes, there was a video with nine facilities across the country, which, among other things, were built for the World Cup. They are all at work, children, adults, veterans train there, the spectators come.
– Despite the cancellation of the tournament, we remained in the dark?
– Yes, the enormous work carried out jointly with the State has not been overlooked.
– How will the teams continue to work?
– There is no calendar as such, the Russian championship will only end in May. There is a certain group that monitors the performance of our athletes, and anyway, even if our volleyball players are not allowed, there will be training camps and the normal work of the national team.
Shevchenko declined to comment on a possible move to the Asian Volleyball Confederation.
How do you feel about moving to Asia?
– I don’t even want to talk about it, because we have always played with Europe.
