Ukrainian cyclist Ponomar officially moved to Team Arkea Samsic

Andriy will be the second representative of Ukraine in the World Tour

Ukrainian cyclist Andrey Ponomar officially transferred to the French team Team Arkea Samsic. The contract is signed for one season.

“Signing with Arkea Samsic is a great moment for me as I will be performing on the World Tour. I’m still a young rider and I think I’m in the learning phase. I think I can get on the podium and fight for victories among the pros, ”said the Ukrainian.

“At 20, Andrey Ponomar is one of the hopes of professional cycling. His history as a man is also strong, as his mother and sister, who were forced to leave Ukraine because of the war, live next to him in Italy, and his father is at the front protecting the freedom of their country,” said Emmanuel Hubert, general manager of the team.

Andrey Ponomar is the 2019 European champion in the group race among juniors. Last year Andrey became the champion of Ukraine.

Team Arkea Samsik competed in the Pro division and, following the results of the three-year classification period 2020-22, entered the World Tour. Ponomar will be the second Ukrainian in the elite division along with Mark Padun, who plays in the American EF Education – EasyPost.

Yuliya Biryukova, a Ukrainian racer, competes for the Arkea Samsik women’s team. The Ukrainian has brought the only team victory this season, having won the fifth stage of the Women’s Tour of Thuringia.
