FINA changed its name to World Aquatics following an extraordinary congress

The International Swimming Federation (FINA) changed its name to World Aquatics following a vote at the organization’s Extraordinary Congress.

175 members of Congress voted in favor of the new constitution and the new name of the organization, four were against, four abstained.

Delegates also voted to expand the World Aquatics board: there are expected to be nine women – this represents 38% of the board composition.

Russian representatives participated in the online congress. The congress takes place within the framework of the World Short Course Swimming Championships in Melbourne.
