President of the Sports and Educational Center “Sambo-70” Renat Laishev told Sport24 that the inclusion of the Olympic champion in figure skating Anna Shcherbakova to the list of nominees for the International Skating Union (ISU) award is good news.
The 2022 Olympic champion is up for the Most Valuable Skater award. Shcherbakova will be the only Russian woman at the ceremony, which will take place on February 5, 2023.
– I really like Anna Shcherbakova! A superb athlete. I know his character. Modest figure skater with a decent demeanor. Surprised by his politeness. No offense to the rest of the girls, but for me, Anna objectively, as a teacher and school doctor, is a very well-behaved person. I love it! Anna is the best! The inclusion of Shcherbakova in the list of nominees for the ISU award is good news for us,” Laishev said.
At the Beijing Games, 18-year-old Shcherbakova won gold in singles.
